American yaoi tends to have a bad name, mostly attacked by the Japanese-type purists for having lackluster art or bad writing that relies on tired yaoi stereotypes. You can forget this when you pick up TEAHOUSE. Stunning artwork acts as the perfect dance partner with a crisp script and a cast of characters that every reader will find a favourite with. The main 'couple' do not hog the spotlight nor allow their serenade to be taken over by others. Each is allowed to shine and the story is given a firm base to start with, with each page leaving the reader with an appetite for more. Pick up TEAHOUSE and throw all your reservations about non-Japanese manga and boy love out the window while you're at it. If it has this previously cynical American-type critic converted, it will do the same for you.
