review ratings information
ratings
Overall: 7.5
Amusing action-comedy fluff just right for a rainy afternoon, but apathetic Mica and Mew's world-saving high jinks is nothing to build an anime library around.

Story: 7.5
All pretty basic: giant monster threatens Tokyo, Hyper Dolls put off fighting it, but eventually step in to defeat it. A lack of background info obscures answers to questions raised throughout

Character Development: 7.0
Mica and Mew, as well as the supporting human cast, are all pretty one-note. However, Dr. Zaiclit is avuncularly creepy.

Art/Animation: 8.5
Animation quality hovers around the adequate range. This OAV one-shot focuses more on high school angst, skimpy costumes and ill-timed jokes than it does on aesthetics.

Translation: 8.0
The translation is serviceable, with a few cultural alterations.

Acting: 7.5
The Japanese portraying Mica and Mew are better cast, their voices more varied and interesting than the dryer American voices.

MPAA Equivalent: PG-13
Mild violence, brief nudity.

X-Factors

Huh-huh-huh Factor: 7.0
Dr. Zaiclit and his big wurm? Nudie transformation sequences? Beavis and Butthead, where are you?

Anatomical Disappointment Factor: 0.0
Perhaps a unifying trait among senshi is that they have no nipples.
