Yasuhiro Nightow: From Otakon to Comicon, Akadot catches up with the camera-shy, yet intriguing 'Trigun' creator Yasuhiro Nightow for an exclusive interview.

Akadot: Did you have any models for any of the other characters?

YN: Nothing special. But I would say Tortoise Matsumoto from Ulfuls (a popular Japanese rock band) was a model for Wolfwood.

Akadot: Really?! So is that the reason why Wolfwood speaks Osaka-ben (a dialect of Japanese)?

YN: Yes.

Akadot: Are you from Osaka?

YN: No.

Akadot: So how do you write Wolfwood's Osaka-ben dialect?

YN: I used a friend of mine from Osaka as a reference. That was enough.

Wolfwood from 'Trigun'

Akadot: If Trigun became a live action movie in America, which American actor would you cast for the role of Vash?

YN: I don't really have any image for it. I couldn't imagine it at all.

Akadot: You like Spawn, right? Are you influenced by it?

YN: Yeah! It has a big influence.

Akadot: What is your favorite anime series and manga series?

YN: Recently? Galaxy Express 999, Hayao Miyazaki movies, and I really like what Kawajiri of Vampire Hunter D fame has done. As for manga, I like stuff like Masahiko Nakahira (Hakaima Sadamitsu) and Takayoshi Yamaguchi (Kakugo no Susume).
